Coram Woodshop.

Our woodshop is a shared co-woodworking space for the community. As with all things in the Coram suite, we seek to embody the principles of sharing and solidarity, and break cycles of injustice. In woodworking that often means access. Access to tools and education stand as barriers for numerous populations to explore the craft. We provide the tools, space, and education—all of which have been shared with us—so that every participant can hopefully flourish.

The WorkSpace.

The space has every tool needed to work with wood, from a massive bandsaw, to all the sharp hand tools needed for making delicate intricate pieces. The space is shared. All participants are given access to use the space anytime, but at any given moment there may be up to 5 carpenters in the space. Sharing grows us in patience, empathy, and compassion—all necessary woodworking tools. We ask that every participant go through tool training before beginning, and there is some boring paperwork to keep us all safe. We ask all participants to pay what they can. $150/month is typical, but if you can pay more, please do! If you can’t pay that much, pay less, and hopefully, when you can, you can meet us at $150 eventually.

Well, what are you waiting for? Sign Up!

The Shop.

We not only provide a space to work, but also an opportunity for income for all our participants. Our pieces are always changing and always limited as much of our lumber is recycled lumber. Check out the shop from 10-3 Tuesday - Friday at 1003 Morehead Ave, Durham, NC, or online anytime!
